This report describes the methods and procedures used to design, develop, and implement the 2024 Curriculum Insights and Progress Study (Curriculum Insights), including the development of its assessment instruments and the analysis of the resulting data. The information provided supplements the suite of reports associated with the 2024 study.

Curriculum context
The learning area assessments were administered in Term 3 of 2024 and the foundation area assessments in Term 4 2024.
- For the learning area assessments, both were informed by the versions of the curriculum available at the time (for Mathematics and Statistics this was the 2024 refreshed NZC and for Science this was the 2007 NZC).
- For the foundation area assessments, Maths maintained a consistent approach with the 2023 foundation area assessment, and writing was informed by the most current version of the curriculum at the time.
About the report
This report comprises two chapters and four appendices. Chapter 1 explains the sampling approach used in the study, whereas the second describes the development and implementation of the 2024 programme. Appendices 1 to 4 provide additional detail about the assessments that were part of the programme.
