This report is comprised of six technical appendices that provide information about the methods and procedures used to design, develop, implement, and report the results of Curriculum Insights and Progress Study 2023. The appendices supplement the suite of reports written about the 2023 study.

Curriculum context
The learning area assessments were administered in Term 3 of 2023 and the foundation area assessments in Term 4 2023. All assessments were informed by the relevant learning area statements from the 2023 draft version of the New Zealand Curriculum. At the time of the assessments, schools were not required to use any of the draft learning area statements. The exception was the aspects of the te ao tangata | social sciences statement related to Aotearoa New Zealand histories (ANZH).
About the report
Appendices 1 and 2 report on the implementation of the 2023 Curriculum Insights programme. Appendices 3 to 6 are ‘scope and approach’ documents created in early 2023 to guide the development of the assessments, and the plans for reporting.
