Description
The annual ECE census is completed by early childhood education services and gives the Ministry of Education a 'snapshot' of the number of attending children and staff at ECE services during the census week. This information contributes to a comprehensive information base on early childhood education in New Zealand and is used in the development of policy and monitoring of early childhood education.
Each licensed early learning service connected to the ELI system needs to complete and submit an electronic ECE Census through their Student Management System (SMS) or ELI Web.
Playgroups, casual education and care and hospital-based services are emailed a link to complete the ECE census return via an online survey (RS61). If your playgroup or service did not receive a link to complete your submission, please email ece.statistics@education.govt.nz.
