Teacher numbers measure the number of teachers by standard breakdowns, for example, age, gender, sector, school type. Headcount and full-time teacher equivalents (FTTE) are available.

• Entry rates: look at those teachers who were not teaching in one year, and were teaching in the next
• Leaving rates: look at those teachers who were teaching in one year, and were not teaching in the next.

Teacher turnover looks at the rate at which teachers are starting and leaving schools. Turnover is broken down into three components:

• Moving School: Teachers who move to a position at another school.
