The Arts Publications

The Arts is one of the 8 learning areas in the New Zealand Curriculum.

The learning area assessments were administered in Term 3 of 2025. In 2025, the New Zealand Curriculum (2007) remained in place for the arts. As such, it provided the basis for the arts learning area study.

While the 2025 reports reflect the curriculum in place at the time of the study rather than the refreshed learning area, they remain a valuable source of insight into student engagement, teaching practices, and learning experiences during a period of curriculum transition. 

The Curriculum Insights and Progress Study assesses all 8 learning areas over a 4-year cycle.
