This is the home page of NMSSA (the National Monitoring Study of Student Achievement). NMSSA was an annual programme to assess and understand student achievement across the curriculum in years 4 and 8 in English-medium schools.
The study built on and extended the design of the previous National Education Monitoring Project (NEMP), which was conducted between 1995 and 2010. NMSSA incorporated more advanced psychometrics for reporting student achievement and exploring factors associated with that achievement. This study ran from 2011 to 2022.
The Curriculum Insights and Progress Study was established in 2023 to monitor student achievement. Although much enhanced this study builds on NMSSA and NEMP. To read about the latest learning area assessments follow this link: Curriculum Insights and Progress Study: Learning area assessments
