Email Addresses: We have recently been in contact with schools and many have agreed to have their email addresses publicly released.  These email addresses have now been added to the Māori Medium Schools Directory downloads.  Please note that persons or organisations wishing to send email material to individuals or organisations whose email addresses appear in this directory must comply with the requirements of the  Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007,  and in particular, publication of email addresses on this site should not be taken as deemed consent to receiving unsolicited email.

Some additional school email addresses are available for non-commercial purposes.  Please contact the information officer at information.officer@minedu.govt.nz [no spam] for further information.

Only schools that agreed to the public release of their email address have those addresses listed here. The most up to date information that we have available has been provided. Recent changes may not be reflected.

Māori Medium Education are students that are taught curriculum subjects (other than Te Reo) either in Māori only (immersion) or both Māori and English (bilingual)  

  • Students participating in level 1 Māori Medium education have their curriculum taught in te reo Māori 81-100% of the time.
  • Students participating in level 2 Māori Medium education have their curriculum taught in te reo Māori 51-80% of the time.
  • Students participating in level 3 Māori Medium education have their curriculum taught in te reo Māori 31-50% of the time.
  • Students participating in level 4a Māori Medium education have their curriculum taught in te reo Māori 12-30% of the time.

For a school to be considered a Māori Medium education school all their students must be learning at Levels 1-4a. Where only some students are learning at these levels the school is defined as having immersion and/or bilingual classes.        

  • Schools that are immersion – all students having the curriculum delivered in te reo Māori at least 81% of the time
  • Schools that are bilingual - all students having the curriculum delivered in te reo Māori at least 12% of the time
  • Schools with immersion classes - some students having the curriculum delivered in te reo Māori at least 81% of the time
  • Schools with bilingual classes – some students having the curriculum delivered in te reo Māori at least 12% of the time
  • Schools have both bilingual and immersion Classes
