Summary
This report examines industry training administrative datasets to determine the feasibility of their use for analytical purposes. It finds that the industry training data, despite some flaws, is suitable for use for identifying key trends in industry training, and for wider analyses.
The report provides a wide range of contextual and statistical information for industry training, including participation and completion analyses, and describes the results of statistical modelling on the influencers of success. It reports that: industry; duration; and volume of learning are the most useful variables within the dataset for predicting the outcomes of industry training programmes.
A companion report, Modern Apprenticeships - completion analysis extends this approach to the Modern Apprenticeships scheme, using data from the industry training and coordinator administrative datasets.
