This is the home page for Ngā Kura o Aotearoa | New Zealand Schools, also known as the Schools Sector Report. It is the annual report of the Minister of Education on the compulsory schools sector in New Zealand. The report provides information on how well the schools sector performed in the previous year.

The reports open with a broad survey of learner/ākonga achievement outcomes, drawing together and summarising the latest information. They assess the extent to which outcomes have improved and the areas still requiring progress.

This is followed by consideration of key issues such as: student wellbeing, learner/ākonga achievement and engagement, initiatives for quality teaching, and school/kura resourcing.
