Summary
The Digital Opportunities Pilot Projects 2001-2003, trailed the use of a variety of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) to enhance learning in four clusters of schools. Each of the pilot projects emphasised the integration of ICTs into the subject areas of mathematics, science and technology. The four pilot projects shared the key goals of raising student achievement and increasing student participation, particularly in these target curriculum areas. However each project was unique in its approach to these goals.
The projects were:
- Generation XP: Microsoft User Qualifications
- FarNet: Professional learning communities across secondary schools including a dedicated website
- Notebook Valley: The provision of laptops to senior maths and science students.
- Digitally Boosted Study Support Centres: Enhanced ICT resources to three school-based homework centres and a Marae-based centre.
The projects were evaluated individually in 2002-2003.
