This report analyses the bibliometric performance of New Zealand universities between 1994 and 2007 using data from Thomson Reuters. The report also examines the impact of the Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF) on the academic impact of research by staff at New Zealand universities, as measured by citations per publication. In addition, the report compares the bibliometric performance of New Zealand universities with Australian universities. This report forms part of a series called 'Research and knowledge creation'.
