Publication Details
The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) measures trends in mathematics and science achievement at the fourth and eighth grades (Years 5 and 9) as well as monitoring curricular implementation and identifying the most effective instructional practices from around the world. This is the fifth cycle of TIMSS and New Zealand is one of 63 countries and 14 benchmarking participants to take part during 2010 and 2011. In the previous cycle (2006/07) New Zealand tested at the Year 5 level only; in 2010/11, both Year 5 and Year 9 were tested at the national level.
