The guidelines for development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under section 11G (3) of the Education Act 1989 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.
All students who live within the home zone described below shall be eligible to enrol at the school.
Commence at the intersection of Clyde Street and Grey Street and travel east along Clyde Street to the roundabout at the intersection with Clyde Street, Knighton Road and Cameron Road. All addresses on Clyde Street are included. Addresses to 449 Grey Street are included in zone.
At the roundabout, turn left into Knighton Road and continue to the roundabout at the intersection of Knighton Road and Ruakura Road. All addresses on Knighton Road are included. Turn right into Ruakura Road and continue to the roundabout at the intersection of Ruakura Road and Silverdale Road. Ruakura Road addresses from 181 are included in the zone.
Turn left at the roundabout and continue along Ruakura Road to Holland Road. All addresses on Percival Road, Brighton Grove and Ryburn Road are included in the zone. Turn left into Holland Road, follow Holland Road to its end at the intersection with Waverley Road. At the intersection of Holland Road and Waverley Road the boundary heads east to the intersection of Schollum Road and SH26. All Schollum Road addresses are included in zone. No Waverley Road addresses are included in the zone.
At the intersection of Schollum Road and SH26 turn right into SH26 and continue south to the intersection with Tauwhare Road. Turn left into Tauwhare Road and continue south to the intersection with Tahuroa Road. Turn left into Tahuroa Road and continue along Tahuroa Road to the intersection with Starky Road. Addresses from 1075 Tahuroa Road are included in the zone.
Turn right into Starky Road and continue to the intersection with Bell Road and Scotsman Valley Road. Turn right into Scotsman Valley Road and continue to the intersection with Pukemoremore Road. Turn left into Pukemoremore Road and continue south to the intersection with Victoria Road. All addresses on Lang Road are included in the zone.
Turn left into Victoria Road and continue south to SH1B. All addresses on Beer Road are included. Turn right into SH1B and continue to Marychurch Road, turn left into Marychurch Road and continue south to the intersection with Peake Road and Wiseman Road, turn right into Peake Road and continue south to the intersection with Pickering Road, Bruntwood Road and Peake Road. Peake Road from 480 to 486 is included in zone. Bruntwood Road from 180 is included in zone. No Wiseman Road addresses are included in zone.
From the intersection of Pickering Road, Bruntwood Road and Peake Road turn right into Pickering Road and continue to Waikato Expressway (SH1) before turning left into Waikato Expressway (SH1). No addresses on Discombe Road are included. All addresses on Strawberry Fields Lane are included in the zone.
Follow Waikato Expressway (SH1) and take the off ramp onto Cambridge Road. Follow Cambridge Road to the intersection with Racecourse Road and Hooker Road. Turn right into Hooker Road and then left into Banks Road before heading south to the Waikato River. All addresses on Banks Road are included in the zone.
Follow the Waikato River north to the point where it is adjacent to Clyde Street before returning back to the starting point at the intersection of Clyde Street and Grey Street.
Both sides of the in-zone roads above are included unless otherwise stated.
Proof of residence within the home zone will be required.
Each year, applications for enrolment in the following year from in-zone students will be sought by a date which will be published in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. This will enable the board to assess the number of places which can be made available to students who live outside the home zone.
Each year the board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.
Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group must be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
