Data Interpretation

The National Standards have been designed to support the national curriculum.  The standards describe the core capabilities that students need at specific stages of schooling in order to access and meet the demands of all curriculum learning areas.

Where teaching and learning is guided and directed by The New Zealand Curriculum, schools monitor and report progress and achievement using National Standards.  The National Standards focus on reading, writing and mathematics in years 1 to 8.
