Indicator Definitions

Definitions of the education sector indicators that have been developed to date. Each indicator has a separate page which includes: a rationale for the indicator, a detailed definition and a discussion of data quality and interpretation issues.



Education and Learning Outcomes

These links lead to the definition of indicators from education and learning outcome domain. This domain covers the 'results' of the education system. Results include the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values gained through the education system.


Student Participation

These links lead to the definitions of indicators from the student participation domain. This domain looks at who has access to the opportunity to learn, and who is enabled to take up the opportunity.


Family And Community Engagement

These links lead to the definitions of indicators from the family and community engagement domain. Family and community factors influence access to education opportunities, the likelihood of participating in education, and equity of achievement and qualifications.


Effective Teaching

These links lead to the definitions of indicators from the effective teaching domain. Effective teaching looks at teaching and educator factors associated with the quality and effectiveness of learning.


Quality Education Providers

These links lead to the defintions of indicators from the quality education providers domain. The focus here is on the management and governance efforts that are applied to the resources in the sector to produce desired outcomes.


Resources

These links lead to the definitions of indicators from the resources domain. The focus of the resources domain is the quantity, adequacy and deployment of resources: financial, information and physical/material.
