Pasifika-medium education
- Pasifika-medium education is where a Pasifika language is the medium of instruction for more than three hours per week.
Pasifika Medium Education Rolls
- A total of 34 schools offered Pasifika-medium education in 2009: 23 primary schools, nine secondary schools and two composite schools. This was two fewer than in July 2008.
- There were 1,465 students involved in Pasifika-medium education. This is a decrease of 176 students (10 per cent) since July 2008.
As a Secondary Subject
- There were 3,064 enrolments in a Pacific language at secondary level. This is an increase of 255 (9.1 per cent) since July 2008.
- Samoan was the most studied Pacific language with 70.5 per cent of all enrolments in a Pacific language.
