- This measure relates to the number of days that individuals had unjustified absences.
- As age was not provided in the Attendance Survey data, truancy percentages have been standardised by Year Level.
- As the 2009 attendance survey was a sample of schools, analysis by Territorial Local Authority was not possible.
- Tasman Region, Nelson Region, Marlborough Region and Weat Coast Region have been grouped together due to insufficient number of schools by type, location, decile etc to allow individual reporting of these regions.
- N/A = The Chatham Islands County is a separate county outside the standard Regional Council Boundaries. No data from this area was supplied for the survey.
- Each student could select only one ethnic group to belong to.
