Given the roll growth in New Zealand secondary schools until at least 2006, the demand for teachers in secondary schools will remain high over the coming years. One of the options used to meet the increasing demand for teachers has been to recruit qualified teachers from overseas. Since 1997, the Research Division of the Ministry of Education has undertaken a number of surveys of overseas teachers.
