This statistical summary paper describes
the relationship between interest from international students in
studying in New Zealand and the respective value of the New Zealand
dollar against the currencies used by our major source countries for
students (i.e. China, Japan, South Korea, and Germany as a smaller but
growing market). The period covered is from July 1999 to June 2006. The
information presented in this paper indicates differing results
depending on the source country, as Chinese student interest appears to
have been strongly correlated with the value of the NZ dollar, while
interest from Japanese, Korean, and German students is not as strongly
associated - or even correlated at all.
